In an interview with Reuters, Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said his company's version of the next Apple iPhone, the so-called "iPhone 5," will be a global phone, working in the same countries as the AT&T mode.
i-e Verizon iPhone 5 would be able to make calls on both CDMA and GSM networks....

According to the guys over at 9to5 Mac, they have received a Best Buy inventory screenshot from a source that shows the white iPhone 4 may come out to play in the US on the very same day as in Europe, Wednesday the 27th.
The supplied screenshot shows the AT&T white iPhone 4 however; apparently a Verizon iPhone in white is also coming according to the source....

9to5mac.com is reported that Verizon is set to launch both 16 GB and 32 GB white iPhone 4 models and the devices have already popped up in Verizon’s internal inventory database. Apple has confirmed over and over again that the white iPhone 4 will come this spring (which is from now until early June) and independent reports claim that we’ll be seeing the white iPhone by the end of April.
Since people are expecting the release of iPhone 5, this white iphone 4 is NOT getting much attraction ...

Apple has confirmed a glitch with the Verizon iPad 2 that is causing users to experience connectivity problems.

The answer for your Question "Can I transfer my AT&T iphone to verizon?" is simply "NO".
You cannot use an AT&T iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network. The AT&T iPhone 4 uses GSM / HSDPA technology and is not compatible with the Verizon Wireless network.
The Verizon Wireless network compatible iPhone 4 is a 3G CDMA version of the iPhone 4.
But Verizon FAQ is bit confusing. It is mentioned as below.

I recently purchased an IPhone 4 to replace my existing verizon cell phone. I don't have the instructions here with how to return the old phone. I have the box and shipping label, but want to be sure this is correct
